Syed Ali Raza Jani Shah
Syed Ali Raza Jani Shah is the head of Markaz-e-Wilayat-e-Ali Pakistan (Sindh) and a prominent personality endowed with intellect, practical commitment, and profound religious integrity. The central axis of his life is selfless love for the Ahl al-Muhammad (peace be upon them), unwavering loyalty to the Wilayat of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (peace be upon him), and an unyielding spirit of sacrifice for the supremacy of truth.
In a sensitive and critical period marked by intellectual chaos and an organized onslaught against the fundamental beliefs of Shi‘ism, Syed Ali Raza Jani Shah, setting aside personal interests, social pressure, and worldly expediencies, gave organized form to a courageous ideological movement. Under his leadership, Markaz-e-Wilayat-e-Ali Pakistan (Sindh) established as the core pillars of its struggle: the intellectual and principled rejection of concepts such as Wilayat-e-Faqih and ijtihad and taqlid by non-infallible individuals; the defense of the obligation of the Wilayat of Maula Ali; the protection and promotion of the mourning of Imam Hussain; the complete defense of the sanctity of the Sadat; and patriotism.
A defining feature of Syed Ali Raza Jani Shah’s leadership is steadfastness, intellectual clarity, and fearless truthfulness. He has called for a return to the pure religion of the Ahl al-Muhammad in the face of selective and politicized interpretations of the Qur’an and the traditions of the Infallibles, and has kept alive the courage to stand firmly against intellectual tyrannies. Under his guidance, this ideological struggle is being distinctly felt beyond Pakistan in regions including Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and India.
As a leading figure, Syed Ali Raza Jani Shah firmly maintains the principled position that the divine system of governance can only be established by the Imam appointed by Allah, Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him; may Allah hasten his noble reappearance), and that during the period of occultation no non-infallible individual, group, or juristic structure possesses this authority. He believes in the constitutional and legal order of the state and in the ethical, intellectual, and spiritual role of religion, and it is in accordance with this principled direction that he is leading Markaz-e-Wilayat-e-Ali Pakistan (Sindh).
